October's Big Games: Rent vs. Buy

Dead Space - A promising sci-fi shooter that looks atmospheric and innovative. So if you are the kind of person that has read all of the back stories and is going to see the movie and loves getting slightly freaked out while playing late at night, its a purchase. For me it's a RENT

Socom - The first installment of the Playstation series on next-gen hardware. Available for download on the PSN for a discounted price. This game will have a healthy online community and will keep it's followers hooked for months. I am a sucker for online gun battles. BUY

LittleBigPlanet - Could become the platformer to spawn all other great platformers. With brilliant technical flair and supposedly intuitive creation tools, this game is a must for anyone inclined to be expressive. The shit people are going to come up with.......BUY

Fable 2
- Hyped to the heights, but does look promising. Although somewhat flawed, the original did have an enormous following. This same following is looking for Molynuex to come through big-time with the new innovations. RENT

Fallout 3 - The biggest of all. Poised to be game of the year. Developed by the hands of masters....enough with the hype. Bioshock combined with Oblivion. That is exactly my cup of tea. BUY

Far Cry 2 - All of the news, so far, points to brilliance. The open ended gameplay combined with the ambitious setting has me wondering what could go wrong. Africa in 1080p with machine guns and fire, plus multiplayer of some kind? I can't resist.BUY

Other games like Saints Row 2, Legendary, and Guitar Hero: world tour are all hitting the market this month as well. It makes me wonder how much can one simple man (or woman) afford. Well, I have made my hard decisions, now it is time to make yours.

I love your commentary. I appreciate you keeping some of us casual game users informed in a summarized manner. It's far better than tearing through assloads of web-pages in an effort to stay on top of the market. As for me, that's too much gaming though, you're right. That's more than I can afford, time and money. With the economical state of the US economy, I find it hilarious that most of us will try to fit it in somehow anyway.
